Cyber security survey reveals impact and risks to cyber security

A recently released cyber-security survey highlighted a failure among organisations to identify cybersecurity risks posed by rapid digitisation. This comes after the recent long-term digitisation of many workplaces as a result of COVID-19, which acted as an unprecedented digital test for businesses.

Data breaches in 2020 had more than doubled compared to the previous year, with 91 per cent attributed to malicious hacking and accidental disclosures by staff rising almost 60 per cent.

One of the most vulnerable areas of industry when it comes to cyber security is supply chains, which are 50 per cent more likely to be exposed to cyber threats.

It highlights the need for Australian and New Zealand businesses to remain vigilant, and continue ongoing cyber-security measures and visibility into their cyber threats and risks.
